Rep. Reis, Leader Cross Meet with Local Business Owners
July 7, 2005
Effingham, IL…As a part of an ongoing effort to jumpstart the local economy and create new jobs for area residents, State Representative David Reis (R-Ste. Marie) and House Republican Leader Tom Cross (R-Oswego) toured local manufacturing plants in Flora and Effingham and met with local business leaders.
The lawmakers attended a luncheon with Clay County officials and business owners to discuss new ways the state can expand the local economy, attract new businesses to the state, and develop new jobs for families.
“Input from district business leaders is essential to making Illinois a more business friendly environment and bringing jobs back to the area,” said Reis. “My district tour with Leader Cross provided us with insight into new and innovative ways we can accomplish these goals on behalf of area residents and citizens statewide.”
Reis and Cross also toured the North American Lighting Plant in Flora and the Krispy Kreme Plant in Effingham.
Reis said other topics discussed during the district tour include battling the methamphetamine problem in central and southern Illinois and the Democrats’ harmful FY06 Budget and pension raid.
