Reis: Medicare Prescription Coverage Sign-up

Olney…. Now is the time for all persons on Medicare to consider signing up for the federal government’s voluntary Medicare prescription plan for those who qualify, according to State Representative David Reis (R-Ste. Marie).
“Persons who are on Medicare now and want to take advantage of the prescription plan have from November 15 to May 15, 2006 to sign up” Reis said. Reis would also like to emphasize that signing up for Medicare part D is not required. “If you do not feel as though you need to change your plan because you are currently happy with your coverage, there is nothing that requires you to make a change” said Reis.

Reis also urges caution when deciding between the various coverage plans. “If you decide to sign up, take time to carefully look over and study all available options. The six month sign up period should allow enough time for those that are unsure of what plan they should pick to have their questions answered,” Reis said.
