Ten projects totaling over $2.76 million were funded across the 54th Senate District for the 2007 Community Development Assistance Program (CDAP) according to State Senator John O. Jones (R-Mt. Vernon) and State Representative David Reis (R-Ste. Marie).
CDAP grants are awarded to communities who are in need of assistance to improve critical infrastructure. All of this year’s projects are to replace, repair or extend water and sewer lines in rural cities and townships.
“These grants are extremely important to smaller communities in Southern Illinois. With this money it makes it more feasible for infrastructure improvements to be made without raising water or sewer rates on customers,” Jones said.
“The projects will significantly benefit the 108th side of the 54th Senate District. Funds like these are necessary to smaller communities because often they need assistance from the state to complete infrastructure upgrades,” Reis said.
Below are the projects, listed by county and representative district that have been awarded since July 31, 2007.
